VACUUM SYSTEM FOR THE FRONT HUBS 2.9 TD (2000)
(should also work for other types)
The vacuum system for the hubs is simple. In the main vacuum pipe between the vacuum
pump and brake booster sits a T-connector, see picture 1.

From this connector goes a thin tube to a distribution connector (4 connections), see picture 2.

From this point one pipe goes to engine stop system, one pipe to the idle regulation and one
pipe to top connection of the electric valve of the vacuum hubs, see picture 3. This valve
should audible “click” when 4-WD is switched on.

In the line to the valve sits a one way-valve, see picture 4. It is important that this is fit in the
right direction, as shown. Flow direction must go to the vacuum pump.

From the second connection of the electric valve there goes a tube down to a T-connector, see
picture 5.

From this T-connector there goes a tube to the left hub (yellow marked) and one to the right
hub (red marked). These tubes goes to a metal pipe at the inner side if the front axle part, see
picture 6. Some times this pipe is serious corroded and leaks.
It is important that the vacuum system is good air-tight. Check the tubes and connectors on
cracks. Replace in necessary.
