As a matter of fact,I have another suggestion that would make the system more useful.A lot of diskettes are used by people to keep all their 800 filesbacked-up. If there were an "archive" utility for the 800 thatwould allow someone to access the VAX and transfer text or datafiles either direction between the machines then the VAX could beused as a central storage place for files and for file transfer.Also, since the VAX has periodic backup on tape the problems ofdata loss due to poor backup on the 800s could be minimized andthe expense for backup diskettes would be reduced as well.If you think this might be a good idea lets talk about it.Regards,DAVIDFrom: SOVEY 28-MAR-1983 19:01To: FRANK,SOVEYSubj: tta1 printer ribbonFrank,Ijust noticed that the tta1 printer has come to the end of itsribbon and has stopped printing a document in the middle.I have dequeued the job that I had pending but the ribbonneeds to be replaced. There is extra ribbons and paperlocated in a locked cabinet in the print area. This cabinet just arrivedand has been on order for quit some time for just that purpose. Thisbrings on some different changes with the system. These are noted belowwith an explanation of there location of the different printers:$ PRINT (filename) - goes to the Printronix in print room$ PRINT1 (filename) - prints to the new draft printer$ LQ1 (filename) - prints on the Letter Quality Diablo$ LQ2 (filename) - prints on the Letter Quality Diablo inthe printer room area$ LQ3 (filename) - will be added and used by Lynn Bertka(NOTE: this device is not connected)These changes are in effect after 3:00pm 4/6/83. Word-11 users willnow use LQ1, or LQ2, eventually LQ3, for letter quality printingonly.
