Changes to PTS Toolkit V2.2.1.3 -> V2.2.1.4Last updated 10th March 2003-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Version V2.2.1.4 March 2003================As well as introducing support for Windows XP themes this version provides a numberof new features, particularly the indication of channel level strings in PTS Editor.Some testing has been performed a USB to serial convertor (Prolific PL2303 chipset)for use with laptops that don't have serial ports. This have been found to havepotential 'handshaking'problems; but by using the 'download speed' tab in the optionsdialog, from the tools menu of PTS Terminal the PC can be throttled back and downloadsuccessfully to the PTS. Also if communications are lost try unplugging the cablefrom both the PC and the PTS - to reset the electronics in it.If you do a long download from Editor to the PTS via Terminal sometimes a "busy"dialog appears. This is due to timeouts and has been improved for this release -the error no longer appears; however the PC 'buffers' your mouse and keyboardso the Editor might well 'suddenly' jump into life once the download has finished.There are also fixes for some issues.PTS Editor----------1. For Windows XP: themed displays supported.2. Options dialog - this has changed look and feel (XP compatibility issues).3. Channel level string indicators. These show which bits of PTS code will runat channel level. These can be turned on/off from the options dialog (tools menu).A number of changes to the parser DLL's were required in line with this.4. PTS parser options - you can now select PTS unit type; between 'standalone'(single box units e.g. QMotion 1) and 'bus based' (multiple box units e.g. SERVOnet)This affects how the parser understands the PTS code and particularly which partsof the PTS code will run at channel level and have channel level indicators.5. Both parser version and PTS type are 'detected' from a PTS VN list if includedin your PTS user program - so the parsing is always in line with the hardwareyou are using.6. Wait cursors (hourglass) - these should now appear more often, previous codewasn't turning them on as expected.7. Licensing system dialog no longer leaks memory, and applies keys as you enterthem - which makes it a little nicer.8. Changes to the analysers to make them understand the parser settings (parserversion, ignoring unknown parameters etc.)9. Event analyser no longer puts channel level DI definitions in the host group ifthey are defined after a host level DI definition.10. Memory leak in event analyser fixed (leaked 44 bytes for PO1:2+/PO1:2+/1/2 andsimilar). Also removed redundant option re. 'checking through IO' which was notimplemented.11. Event analyser no longer reports AS0 as an error (though it isn't normally partof a PTS program, it is a valid command).12. Undefined XS on a DI line - double click wouldn't jump to it properly; this isfixed.13. Analysers handle user signals with multiple SX declarations much better; andno longer enter a continuous analysis and crash on exit. This also includeshandling SX1/0 - undefinition of user signal. Note however there are still issueswith analysing a program using multiple SX definitions; it is not always possibleto determine which SX definition is valid for any particular US signal.14. Analysers understand $xxx> trigger variable undefinition. As for multiple SXdefinitions it is not always possible to determine which trigger variable definitionis relevant for any particular variable write.PTS Terminal------------1. For Windows XP: themed displays supported.2. Options dialog - this has changed look and feel (XP compatibility issues).3. Save error colour properly in registry.4. Will now connect properly to a PTS in SY0 (sends SY1 during connection)5. Wait cursors (hourglass) - these should now appear more often, previous codewasn't turning them on as expected.6. Bug in download routine fixed - the download could get ahead of itself, and thiscould cause problems on serial ports that handle handshaking poorly.7. Clone and upload routines modified to work with PTS V2.2.x - where RD/SP reportsmore than one line of information.8. CN or SI (version dependant) information included in an upload from a SERVOnetsystem.9. Upload understands "Press any key" in the SI information from a SERVOnet system.10. Clone supports Profibus interface V1.4; allowing a clone file to be created.11. Clone supports SERVOnet node tables.12. Error reporting for piggyback operations improved (programming feature).13. When program was closed whilst in flash reprogramming mode the toolbar was 'lost'- this has been fixed.14. Log files are limited to around 5MB; if the file grows too large a new file isopened.15. Serial port advanced settings, the baud rate box is fixed so it works for othervalues than 9600 baud.16. Work on Ethernet implementation. Now supports:* Multihomed PC's (PC's with more than one network interface, e.g. LAN and dial upactive at same time)* Multicast (e.g. connect to 224.0.0.1 and PTS(s) will respond)* Better reporting of Ethernet connection problems - more information to helpsort out what's wrong.* Network search feature (in tools menu) which finds PTS(s) connected to LANn.b. PTS needs Ethernet license and correct Ethernet cablingThis feature works whatever IP address is in the PTS, allowing configuration ofIP address (if only one PTS on network) - without a serial lead.PTS Scope---------1. For Windows XP: themed displays supported.2. Options dialog - this has changed look and feel (XP compatibility issues).3. Scope scales dialog - this has changed look and feel (XP compatibility). Thisshould also lead to a clearer dialog with the ability to cancel after trying outchanges via the apply button.4. If you cancel trace select when starting scope the toolbar now comes backto life properly.5. Timebase rounding is now down, not up - this makes it easier to set fasttimebases.6. User scaling is supported; a new dialog box lets you set the scale factorbetween user units and whatever units the selected trace is in. This onyl appliesto 'analogue' signals and may suffer numeric rounding issues, depending upon thescale factor used.QDrive Setup------------1. Now supports the 'rotor locking' methods of detecting resolver/hiperface shiftangle: this means it is fully automatic. If the drive firmware doesn't supportthese options then the previous method is used.2. More information about hiperface feedback on status page.3.
